Daniel Gerard Griffin

We are saddened to announce the death of Daniel Gerard Griffin "Griff". He died peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 21, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 24, 1965, to Gerald and Mary Griffin, in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1983, and married the love of his life, Laurie (Schilling), on August 19, 1989. They met while working at the Aviary in Rochester.

Griff was a huge Grateful Dead fan and attended many of their concerts. He was an amazing cook. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, and hanging out with friends and family. Over the years, Griff worked at the Aviary, Delta Marine, and bartended at various places and always had jokes to share. He also worked as a flooring installer before finishing his career at the Mayo Clinic.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Laurie; son Max (Briana) Griffin and their children Trenten, Kaelynn, and Graycen, all of Kasson; his siblings: Jim (Angie) of Babbit, MN, Kelly Griffin of Rochester, and Tom (LaVonne) of New Brighton, MN; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Stella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and many other family members and friends. Griff was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
