David Hinze

April 20, 1941 — November 7, 2025

David Henry Hinze, age 84, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Spring Valley Living Memory Care.

David was born on April 20, 1941, in Sumner Township, to Richard Franklin Hinze and Alice Mary (Jahns) Hinze. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1959. David then went on to serve in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963. During that time, he was trained as missile technician, while serving in Hawaii.

On April 24, 1965, David married Joyce Elaine Meinen, in Greenleafton, Minnesota. He was an installer for AT & T and retired in 1995.

David enjoyed camping, drag/car racing, astronomy, doing crafts and projects, nature, traveling, going to the gym, listening to country/western music and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Homestead Church, a volunteer for Friends of Chester Woods, and an avid supporter of medical research.

David is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Brenda (Robert) Parshall, Michelle (Curtis) Arnold, and Christine (George) Dawson; grandchildren, Leandra Arnold, Leighton Arnold, Nathan Parshall, Christopher Parshall, Tyler Dawson, and Courtney Dawson; siblings, Lois Brekke, Dale (Beth) Hinze, Marge Thull, Shirley Hinze, Ronald Hinze; Aunt by marriage, Janette Meinen (who celebrated her 100th birthday this year!); many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Howard Brekke and Alvin Thull.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at Maxon Family Cremation & Life Celebrations, with pastor Aaron Justice officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, in Preston.

Memorial donations are suggested to: Homestead Church, Friends of Chester Woods, Mayo Clinic Research Program (Parkinson’s/Dementia).
