Eleanor Gwen (Jordan) Berg was born February 4, 1934, in Adelaide, Australia. On March 25, 2026, she died at home surrounded by her family. Eleanor left her family, home, teaching career and moved to the United States in 1972. She married Curtis Leonard Berg in Nashua, Iowa, and tried to help raise his children.
Eleanor, also known as Ellie, said that she had met many wonderful people, including wonderful dogs, in her life. These people in turn met a vibrant creative person who loved to share her passion for the natural world. Eleanor was a gifted teacher, a loyal friend, and independent spirit.
Eleanor was preceded in death by Gavrilo Vukovic and Curtis Berg.
She is survived by her son, Jon; two sisters, Josephina "Jo" Ruth Jordan and Priscilla Grace Jordan who live in Adelaide, Australia; step-children, Dr. Amy Hull, Eric & Pat Berg, Martin & Debbie Berg, Kare Berg; many relevives in Australia; grandchildren, Dr. Aron Hull, Dr. Mike Hull, Gregory Berg, Gillian Berg, Brian and David Berg; Berg cousins; great-grandchildren; many special friends; and the many lives that she has touched.
There will be a Celebration of Life service starting at 2:00 pm on Saturday April 18 at Maxon Family Cremation & Life Celebrations, with a gathering and social time to follow.
