Ione Mae Jensen

Ione Jensen, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Methodist Campus.

 Ione Mae Jacobson was born on August 7, 1939, in Rochester, MN to Albin and Dora (Peterson) Jacobson. She was united in marriage to Jerry Jensen on May 17, 1958, and they had been married for 67 years. Ione spent her early years of marriage raising their children as a devoted homemaker. She also worked at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, for a short time, as a tour guide. The couple made their home in Rochester until they built a new home on Viola Lake, near Siren, WI. Ione and Jerry resided there until recently moving back to Rochester, in March 2026, to be near their children and grandchildren.

 Ione loved working in her flower gardens and baking (we all blame mom for our sweet tooth!). She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, decorating her home, and fishing/camping, in her younger days! 

Ione is survived by her husband Jerry; 3 children, Brenda Radel (Kittleson) of Oronoco, Jay Jensen of Rochester and Danny Jensen of Orr, MN; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Kittleson, Tara Kittleson, Erin Huey (Jensen), Andrea "Anna" Jensen; 3 great grandchildren, Logan Spratte, Colton Spratte, and Elara AL-Kaissy.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  3 siblings; daughter-in-law, and Michelle Wood Jensen.

Mom passed away peacefully after a very long battle with COPD. She always blamed the love affair she had with the Marlboro Man for her COPD.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Moments Hospice and the Mayo Clinic palliative care team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, in memory of Ione Jensen.
