James Jay Van de Mark, 68 of Chatfield, Mn, passed away in his home on Aug. 23, 2026.
He was surrounded by family and friends. James was born to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Van de Mark ( Geraldine Henaman) of Austin MN, February 7, 1958. The family moved to Wisconsin and eventually to Iowa, where they settled in Fostoria IA. James attended school in Milford until the death of his mother in 1974, at which time he moved to Chatfield, MN to live with his brother, Gary Van de Mark. James graduated from Chosen Valley HS in 1976.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Doyle Tarrence and Gary Van de Mark. He is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. Wayne Stephas (Dorothy Tarrence) and Mrs. Wyatt Goldsmith (Judy Van de Mark).

James was a truck driver by trade. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, and was an Abate member. He was known as Santa to many over the course of 47 years. James was a member of AA and offered his assistance and guidance as did those who supported him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor, at Groen Park in Chatfield, MN on Saturday September 12, from noon to 3 pm. Lunch will be provided. The wearing of leather and Santa hats is encouraged. Bring your own chair.
