Jean Bentson

Jean Rae Bentson, 80, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus, in Rochester.

Jean was born on January 2, 1945 to George and Phoebe (Welke) Fenske. She attended John Marshall High School, where she met Robert "Bob" Rhody Bentson. They were married on June 26, 1965, at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. 

Jean was devoted to her family and deeply valued time spent with those she loved. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and steady presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and reading. She also deeply loved her pets. 

She is survived by her children: Dr. Jeffrey (Colleen) Bentson of Alexandria, Virginia; Matthew (Cindy) Bentson of Fountain, Minnesota; and Michelle "Missy" (Joe) Slawson of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Jordyn Bentson, Joshua Slawson, Robert Bentson, Charles (Ronni) Bentson, Henry Bentson, Oscar Bentson, Annika Bentson, and Aria Bentson; one great-grandchild, Hildegard "Hilda" Bentson; as well as extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Bentson on May 31, 2020.
