Jerry Wayne Orr, age 86, of Rochester, MN died Monday May 26th, 2025, at St Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Jerry was born November 27th, 1938, in Granite Falls, MN to Lance and Katherine (Carey) Orr. Jerry grew up being the oldest of 7 children in Erskine, MN initially and moved around some to Montivideo, MN and Grand Forks ND.
Jerry married Carol Brevik in 1958. The couple had four children; Randy, Jeri, Mike and Kelly. The couple suffered the loss of their first son Randy at the age of 6 weeks. The couple remained together until the passing of Carol in 1984. Jerry would later meet his significant other Marsha Gumbusky, the two who have spent the past 40 amazing years together taking trips to Florida, enjoying time out in the boat or just being at their home away from home in Lake City, MN.
Jerry spent his life working in the construction industry. He was a supervisor for Metro development before opening his own company "Jerry Orr Construction LLC" in 1987. Jerry retired in 2015. After retiring he spent his time enjoying life at the lake surrounded by his family. He loved telling fish stories while enjoying a couple of beers. His love for the outdoors was admirable, regardless of whether it was chasing big bucks, hunting pheasants, geese or fishing for walleye and salmon, he loved every second of it. The outdoors presented an opportunity for him and his brother, Dick to open a resort called Orr's Resort on Milac's Lake. His joys and pride in hunting and fishing have been passed along to his grandkids who always looked forward to those trips with their grandpa. Jerry's love for the outdoors took second seat later in life to the love of his dogs. There was nobody more important than his two yorkies "Snickers and Pixie"
He is survived by his significant other, Marsha Gumbusky of 40 years; children, Jeri Liddy (Dale Lorentzen) and Kelly (Donald) Lorentzen; 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. sisters, Judy (Dave) Nelson, Shirley (Rick) Willson and Pam (Ron) Siltman; and his brother, Bill Orr.
