Julie Popham, 48, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Methodist Campus.
Julie Denise Wedekind was born November 3, 1976, in Fort Worth, Texas. Two days later she was adopted into the family of David and Jeanne (Herbek) Wedekind. She was raised in Ft. Worth, Texas until 1982 then moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida. Julie graduated from MacArthur High School in 1996.
Married Chris Popham on June 12, 1999, at Birchman Baptist Church in Ft. Worth Texas.
Julie was baptized at the age of 13 at Sheridan Hills Baptist Church, Hollywood Florida, where she was a member.
Julie has always worked with children and kids of all ages. She worked for multiple schools here in Rochester, Minnesota as a Paraeducator in both general and special needs classes. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Viola Bible Church, Viola Minnesota.
Julie was also a member of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion which are worldwide Star Wars costuming groups that provide appearances at multiple venues including events to support charities including Make-A-Wish foundation. She enjoyed reading, playing tabletop games, spending time with friends, attending craft shows, making blankets, helping others and baking.
Julie is survived by her husband Christopher; her children Bryan (20) and Lucas (16); her parents Dave and Jeanne Wedekind; her sister Sherry (Wedekind) Pipkin, Brother-in-law Chris Pipkin their children Cayden (9) and Christa (6); Father-in-law George Popham and Brother-in-law Daniel Popham and his wife Jennifer Popham.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday May 6, 2025, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Rochester, Minnesota with Dr. Leo Endel officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service, at the church.
