Lois Maureen Schwartz , beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, earned her angels wings on January 11, 2026 at the age of 90 years old in Rochester, MN.
Lois was born on May 11, 1935 in Calvin, ND to Robert (Roy) and Myrtle (Carlson) Shortridge.
Lois grew up on the farm in the Calvin area and attended the one room school house in Harvey Township. She graduated top of her class from Langdon High School in 1953. She attended Interstate business college in Fargo before beginning work at the First Bank of Langdon, ND. She met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Schwartz and they married July 10, 1960. Throughout her life, Lois was known for her deep christian faith and love for her family. They welcomed their daughter Julie in 1966 and later brought Darin into the family in 1971. Lois generously cared for her children as a stay home mother until they were in school. She then went to work at FM Bank in Langdon. Her beautiful smile and kind disposition welcomed all who arrived at the drive up window over the years.
Lois was active in the First Baptist Church teaching Sunday school and volunteering her time to support the members of the church. She modeled her gentle spirit to many in the community and church, and showed her deep love for family caring for her parents and friends over the years. Later in life they attended Emmanuel Church in Langdon.
Her home was always sparkling clean and the smell of delicious food and baking was a joy to all who entered. She kept busy with gardening and produced shelves full of canned goods, spaghetti sauce, delicious salsa and her famous pickles. When she had time, she also loved to sew and quilt, an art she learned from her mother and aunties.
In 2009, Lois and Dick moved to Rochester, MN to be closer to Julie and her growing family. They attended Calvary Evangelical Free Church and Senior Sunday school.
Lois has always considered "home" to be the farm near Langdon.
Lois is survived by her daughter Julie Demirsar of Rochester, MN and son Darin (Kaysie) of Aurora, CO. She has 3 grandchildren Katie (Darius) Andrews of Orlando, FL and Josh Demirsar of Miami, FL; Spencer Schwartz of Bozeman, MT.
