Richard William Casper, age 79, passed away at home surrounded by his family on February 14, 2026. Dick was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on November 7, 1946, to William and Virginia (Kukla) Casper. He spent his childhood roaming the woods and lakes of Wisconsin. Dick joined the Air Force after graduating from Waterford High School. He spent four years serving his country.
In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Jean Schmidt. Dick and Carol made their home in Rochester, Minnesota where they raised their daughter Sarah and son Joshua. Dick was employed at the Mayo Clinic and was especially fond of the Plummer Building. Dick loved sports and fast cars. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan. He loved NASCAR and online poker. He especially enjoyed his home and yard, where all kinds of critters visited him regularly.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter Sarah Casper and son Joshua; grandchildren Lily Lynn Jordan, and Chad Jordan; sister Karen Hasting of Colorado. Dick is preceded in death by his father William Casper and his mother Virginia Casper.
The family wishes to thank his wonderful care givers at Mayo Clinic for their kindness and support. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Online condolences are welcome and may be shared at maxonfamilycremation.com.
