Robert Hanson

July 23, 1941 — April 23, 2025

Robert (Bob) James Hanson died on April 23, 2025, at his home in rural Taopi, MN.

Bob was born in a log cabin outside Adams, MN, on July 23, 1941. He was the fourth child of Henry and Celia (Pederson) Hanson after brother Donald and sisters Shirley and Darlene. He attended elementary school in Taopi and graduated from Adams High School in 1959. Bob was drafted into the Army in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and has been a member of the Adams American Legion for many years.

In 1969, Bob purchased the farm where he had lived since the age of 6. The eventful year was made better on April 26, 1969, when he married Sharon Harvey. Together they worked the farm and raised two daughters, Melody and Holly.

Bob loved farming with his dad and brother Don, who lived at the next farm to the North. Besides farming, he loved spending time at the sale barn, smoking, mowing lawn (but only on the riding mower), smoking some more, gambling, and smoking while spending time with family and friends. Bob also traveled, happily being dragged all over the country by his wife, while taking long leisurely naps as Sharon drove.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly, parents Henry and Celia, brother Don, sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Roberts, sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Donald Lee.

Bob is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Sharon, daughter and son-in-law Melody and Tim Hair: grandchildren Cassidy Hair and Coby Hair. sister-in-law Connie Hanson, nieces & nephews Shauna (Norb) Schlichter, Sherri (Brian) Miller, Scott (Kate) Hanson, Debbie (Mark) Katsaros, David (Rosemary) Roberts; cousins, great nieces, and nephews.

In leu of a memorial service, the family held a Celebration of Life on April 13th where Bob visited with his family and friends. The celebration was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by Bob and his family. The soft-spoken Bob will continue to travel with Sharon, where the conversation is expected to remain the same as always. When done traveling, Bob's ashes will be spread on the farm he loved.
