Stephan "Steve" Himle, age 58, of Rochester, Minnesota lost his life in the early morning of April 12th, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Friday, June 23rd, 1967, at Rochester Methodist Hospital. He spent his years growing up in Owatonna and Blooming Prairie and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1985.
If you were ever lucky enough to visit his house, you'd see that every square inch is covered in artwork, dragon memorabilia, or plants. One thing he looked forward to every year was bringing his two oldest granddaughters to the Renaissance Festival and getting them all dressed up. I know that once his other grandchildren got old enough, he would have brought them as well. Stephan loved the outdoors and camping. He wasn't the type to set up a tent and call it a night; he was the type that would bring a rug, a comforter, string lights, etc. He was someone that liked to camp in style. Stephan was known as someone who didn't have regrets. If he loved you, he showed you. One of his favorite things in life was being a Papa and his memory will forever live on in his grandchildren.
Stephan is survived by his father, Sterling Himle of Ellendale, Minnesota, his sisters, Sheri (Jeff) Shroeder of Mesa, Arizona and Michelle "Shelly" (Randy) Krohnberg, his only son, Justin Himle (Kacey Bakke-Van Dyne) of Owatonna, Minnesota, his surrogate daughter, Danae Andrews (Josh Beese) of Owatonna, Minnesota, his 7 Grandchildren, Violet, Piper, Ryland, Charlotte, Rya, Vincent, and Malcom, and many (great) nieces and (great) nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Cynthia "Cindy" Himle (Kerr) and sister, Candace "Candy" (Brian) Gunderson.
Per Stephan's request, there will not be a formal funeral, but instead a celebration of life will be held at his son's when the weather is more consistent.
