Steven Lyn Rogers, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Steve was born and raised in Clarksville, Iowa and later attended the University of Iowa. He built a highly respected career working as an electrical engineer for IBM, and later at Mayo Clinic, where he was known for his dedication, professionalism, and thoughtful nature.
On January 2, 1982, Steve married the love of his life, Sylvia. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and adventure. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to his son Alex and daughter Emily, and someone whose steady presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.
Steve found joy outdoors and especially loved hiking, cycling, golf and traveling with Sylvia. Whether exploring a trail, planning a trip, or simply enjoying time on the deck, he appreciated life's quiet moments and natural beauty.
A faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rochester, Steve lived with humility, kindness, and deep care for others. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his devotion to his family, his contagious laugh, and the calm strength he carried throughout his life.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2911 18th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation begins at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am and lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Association, Samaritan's Purse, or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, charities important to Steve throughout his life.
