In Loving Memory of Van Thi Villegas

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved Van Thi Villegas (Nguyen Thi Bach Van), who left us on September 22, 2025, at 4:30 PM at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

Van's life was defined by love, faith, and devotion to her family. She faced every challenge with courage and dignity, offering strength in times of sorrow, kindness in times of doubt, and wisdom in times of uncertainty. Her laughter, gentle voice, and warm presence will be forever missed.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Oscar Villegas; her sons Jon (Marnie) Sy, Van (Melanie) Sy, and Donald Sy; and her cherished grandchildren: Noah (Paola) Sy, Aaron (Dashiel Sigler) Sy, Ethan Sy, Cailee Sy, Gavin Sy, and Odin Sy. She is also survived by her sisters Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa, Nguyen Thi Thu Hue, Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc, and Nguyen Thi Thu Ut; her brothers Nguyen Hoang Nhung, Nguyen Manh Hoang, Nguyen Hoang Dung, and Nguyen Hoang Tien; and her nephew Tran Khac Minh Quyen.

She was preceded in death by our father Bernardo Azana Sy, her mother Nguyễn Thị Đặng, her father Nguyễn Văn Tám, her younger brother Nguyen Manh Hung, and her grandson Christian Van Sy.

In accordance with her wishes, Van has been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held later this year, with details to be shared with family and friends. Those who wish may send cards, notes of remembrance, or condolences to:

Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit endures in each of us. Her faith has carried her home, and her legacy of love, sacrifice, and kindness will remain alive in every memory we cherish.
